  • Mari LaMoore, ’17 DVM, MPH, wrote a children's book about dealing with loss as a child that was published in September 2021. The book is called “Where Did My Grandma Go?” and is illustrated by Tim Williams.

  • Mark Peterson, DVM ’76, DACVIM, has received one of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) highest honors. Peterson was named the recipient of the 2021 AVMA Lifetime Excellence in Research Award. The award recognizes a veterinary researcher on the basis of lifetime achievement in basic, applied, or clinical research. Recipients are selected based on the total impact their career has had on the veterinary or biomedical professions.

  • Gary Neubauer, ’78, DVM, has received the National Mastitis Council’s (NMC) 2021 Award of Excellence for Contribution to Mastitis Prevention and Control for his work with dairy cattle. This award recognizes an NMC member who has provided sustained contributions to mastitis prevention and control through research, extension and/or education, clinical practice, or service to dairy producers.

  • Jim Bennett, ’81 DVM, has been announced as the recipient of the 2021 Boehringer Ingelheim Excellence in Preventive Medicine Dairy Award. The award was announced on Oct. 9 at the American Association of Bovine Practitioners’ annual luncheon in Salt Lake City. It recognizes individual member practitioners or practices that have developed outstanding preventive medicine programs.

  • Jennifer Quast, ’01 DVM, started a new position as a veterinarian with Chaska Valley Veterinary Clinic in May 2021.

  • Annette Lundberg, ’19 DVM, began a Veterinary Dermatology Residency at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in July 2021.

  • Kelly Straka, ’12 DVM, ’14 MPH, was named the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources wildlife section manager in September 2021. She is the first woman to lead the DNR wildlife section.

  • Samithamby Jeyaseelan, ’01 PhD, has been named the William L. Jenkins Endowed Professor and Director of the Center for Lung Biology and Disease at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Srinand Sreevatsan, ’95 PhD, has been named the associate dean of research and graduate education at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
