VETgirl gift establishes diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarship at CVM

A contribution from an online continuing education service has laid the groundwork for a new diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarship at the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).

VETgirl, an online veterinary continuing education webinar service for veterinary professionals, has given a gift to establish the VETgirl Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Scholarship at CVM. VETgirl was founded by Justine Lee, DVM, DACVECC, DABT, a former CVM faculty member and current part-time critical care and toxicology expert at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Oakdale, Minn.

This 10-year scholarship commitment will be offered annually at $5,000, benefiting one DVM student each academic year from 2021-2031. Each recipient will have demonstrated financial need, with preference given to a Black student or underrepresented minority, or a student who enhances the diversity, equity, and inclusion of the college.
