Cesar Corzo, DVM, MS, ’12 PhD, recently was awarded grant money from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation to fund a proposal focused on understanding whether environmentally detected PRRSv in pig barns remains viable. In addition, investigators plan to assess whether frequently touched surfaces by personnel contain viable virus particles, which can represent a risk for dissemination to other farms.
Daniel Linhares, DVM, ’13 PhD, recently was awarded grant money from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation to fund a proposal comparing the success of sequencing and virus isolation by using different cycle threshold levels from pooled sample types for influenza A virus in swine.
Nathan Winkleman, ’84 DVM, received the Meritorious Service Award from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians in February 2024.
Matt Allerson, ’09 DVM, ’10 MS, ’13 PhD, was named Swine Practioner of the Year by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians in February 2024.
Paul Yeske, DVM, ’99 MS, received the American Association of Swine Veterinarians’ 2024 Howard Dunne Memorial Award in February 2024.
Jonathan Elbaz, ’21 DVM, completed a community medicine internship at Tufts University, has stayed on as adjunct faculty, and most recently became the medical director for VCA Animal Hospital in Westboro, VA.
Jordan Sanford, ’20 DVM, began a new position in May 2024 as an emergency veterinarian at Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, N.H.
Beth Witte-Neuman, ’04 DVM, was recently promoted to lead mentor of the National Veterinary Associates General Practice Mentorship Program.
Betsy Stringer, ’05 DVM, works as a veterinarian at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and appears on its affiliated TV show “The Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”
