College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) fourth-year student Nikole Mader has been awarded the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) Excellence in Preventive Medicine Dairy Scholarship.

This special scholarship is provided by BI to a veterinary student attending a school chosen by the recipient of another honor, the AABP Excellence in Preventive Medicine Dairy Award. CVM alumnus Jim Bennett, ’81 DVM, was announced as the 2021 winner of the award this past October.

As part of the award, a $1,500 general scholarship contribution is made in the name of the recipient to their veterinary college of choice. Bennett chose CVM to receive the scholarship.

Mader’s scholarship application was ranked highest by evaluators, and she was selected as the scholarship winner.

"I am incredibly honored to be the recipient of this generous award. Dr. Jim Bennett is a pillar of the dairy veterinary community, and I am even more eager to enter an industry that is made of such dedicated individuals," Mader says. "As I graduate this year, I am excited to use the skills and knowledge I have gained from all my professors and mentors in providing the highest quality medicine and preventative care to my herds and patients."
