As the fall semester unfolds, new and returning College of Veterinary Medicine students have opportunities to connect with one another and create a sense of community.

The College’s third annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion BISOC and LGBT Welcome event on Aug. 21 invited DVM and graduate students to share a meal and engage with one another. More than a dozen students identifying as BISOC (Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color) and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) attended the event.

During the welcome, students participated in community-building and well-being activities and heard from BIPOC and LGBT faculty members during a panel discussion about their experiences navigating careers in higher education and private industry.

The Welcome also kicks off the DEI Lunch and Learn Workshop Series, which are open to all CVM students and will continue throughout the school year.

The dates for DEI Lunch and Learn Workshops for Fall 2024 are:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 12–1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 12–1 p.m.
