Tim Johnson honored with 2022 Evonik Award for Achievement in Poultry Science
The Poultry Science Association (PSA) has named College of Veterinary Medicine Professor Tim Johnson as the 2022 recipient of the Evonik Award for Achievement in Poultry Science.
The award is presented to a scientist who has made distinctive contributions to advancing poultry science over the past seven years. PSA announced the award at its annual meeting held in July in San Antonio, Texas.
Johnson’s research focuses on the areas of poultry health and disease. Since joining CVM in 2007, he has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in this area, including studies involving several poultry bacterial pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, plasmid biology, the poultry microbiome, and the development of host-adapted probiotics for poultry. Johnson has secured over $5 million in external grant support from the USDA and the National Institutes of Health to support this work.
