SAVMA wins Tony Diggs award for health and wellness efforts

The University of Minnesota (UMN) Student American Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) Chapter has won a University excellence award recognizing its commitment to health and well-being.

The chapter won the 2023 Tony Diggs Excellence in Health and Wellness Award, which was presented at a ceremony on April 11. The award recognizes groups that have an outstanding impact on the health and wellness of their members and/or community at large.

SAVMA works to support, empower, and inspire all veterinary students to improve their lives, education, and careers. The UMN chapter is active in community philanthropic efforts, offers student externship and travel grants, hosts informative lunch seminars, plans social events, and supports student camaraderie.

In honor of Tony Diggs, former director of the Student Activities Office, the awards are intended to recognize annual student group achievements across the entirety of the University of Minnesota. The awards are open to all Campus Life programs and registered student organizations.
