Dean Trevor Ames takes new role

    Trevor Ames

As of August, Trevor Ames, DVM, MS, DACVIM, is now the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine's (CVM) former dean but also the associate vice president of Academic Health Sciences at the University of Minnesota. He has worked at the CVM for 41 years and served as dean for the last 12. His many accomplishments as dean include working to triple the scholarship dollars awarded annually to DVM students, and holding down tuition increases to less than 1 percent per year for the past six years. During Ames’ time, CVM revenues grew by 50 percent and the number of faculty increased by 30 percent.

Laura Molgaard, DVM, was selected as interim dean pending a national search for a permanent dean. She joined the CVM in 1997, and as senior associate dean, Molgaard oversaw the College’s DVM educational program and worked collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to advance excellence in curriculum, teaching, and student support.
