Three College of Veterinary Medicine students recently took home scholarships and awards presented by the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Foundation.
Scholarships were awarded to students participating in the AASV Student Seminar, which invites selected veterinary students to make a scientific presentation at the organization's annual meeting.
Julia Baker, a dual DVM/PhD candidate, received a $1,500 scholarship for her presentation, “Repeat offenders: PRRSV clinical re-breaks from a whole genome perspective.” Cassidy Cordon, a second-year DVM student, received a $500 scholarship for her presentation, “Evaluation of the indirect transmission of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.” Both Baker and Cordon received an additional $750 award for being selected as one of 15 student presenters.
First-year DVM student Casondra Snow received a $200 award for her poster presentation, “Environmental viability of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae,” during the AASV Veterinary Student Poster Competition. She also received a $500 award for being selected as one of 15 students to be a poster presenter.
Zoetis, Elanco Animal Health, and United Animal Health provided funding for the scholarships and awards.
