Seven new faces are joining the College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni & Friends Society Board:

 

 

 

Joe Armstrong

Joe Armstrong, ’15 DVM

Joe Armstrong ’15 DVM, specializes in the practical application of evidence-based medicine and management for both beef and dairy operations. He works as an extension educator in cattle production systems for the University of Minnesota Extension. Prior to joining the UMN, Armstrong worked as a private practitioner with beef and dairy farms at Anderson Veterinary Service in Zumbrota, Minn. He currently lives in Roseville.

Chandra Dahlke

Chandra Dahlke, ’20 DVM

Chandra Dahlke, ’20 DVM, is pursuing her interest in equine medicine after graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Dahlke is currently participating in an internship that is based out of Northfield, Minn., during the warmer months, and out of Canton, Ga., during the winter. Once her internship is completed, Dahlke will be working at an ambulatory equine practice in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities and will hopefully be working with some small ruminant and camelid hobby farms, along with the equids.

Nikko Grossapoulos

Nikko Grossapoulos, ’15 DVM

Nikko Grossapoulos, ’15 DVM, is an experienced veterinarian with a demonstrated history of team leadership and collaborative skills. He owned a productive small business for nearly a decade before taking the leap into veterinary medicine. Grossapoulos now works as the professional services veterinarian for the Midwest Region for Zoetis. He also serves on the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation board and is also a committee member for MOVE (Minnesota Opportunities for Veterinarian Engagement).

Camille McAloney

Camille McAloney, ’17 DVM

Camille McAloney,’17 DVM, is currently a clinical pathologist resident and PhD student at the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine. In the past, she has worked with former faculty member Leslie Sharkey, DVM, PhD, DACVP, sorting through numerous patient files to find suitable subjects for a retrospective case study. She also worked with Bruce Walcheck, PhD, via a grant provided by the University of Minnesota to veterinary students interested in biomedical research.

Sarah Neuser

Sarah Neuser, ’19 DVM

Sarah Neuser, ’19 DVM, works as a veterinarian for Twin Peaks Veterinary Center in Tucson, Ariz. Her special interests include preventative care, dentistry, behavior, and cat friendly practices. She is also interested in organized veterinary medicine and has spent considerable time advocating for the needs of veterinary students, veterinarians, and the animals that they serve. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their pets, and exploring Tucson.

Kelsey Bertamus

Kelsey Bertamus Ruth, ’16 DVM

Kelsey Bertamus Ruth, ’16 DVM, is the clinical director at Mission Animal Hospital in Eden Prairie, Minn. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental policy from Northwestern University. A Minnesotan through and through, she returned to pursue her DVM from the University of Minnesota. She also holds a certificate in shelter medicine from the University of Florida. Her special interests include geriatric care, preventative medicine, surgery, nutrition, and metabolic disease.

Kayla Sample

Kayla Sample, ’18 DVM

Kayla Sample, ’18 DVM, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California Davis and received her DVM from the University of Minnesota. Throughout her education, Sample worked extensively with community outreach programs and shelters. As part of her goal to provide veterinary care for all community members, she is improving her Spanish language skills to remove some of the language barriers clients may face when bringing their pets in for care. Most recently, she completed a Small Animal Community Medicine internship at Tufts at Tech Community Veterinary Clinic.
