Charles J. Smith, ’63 DVM, ’77 PhD

Charles J. Smith, ’63 DVM, ’77 PhD, St. Anthony Park, Minn., died on June 17, 2025, at age 90. After graduating from veterinary school, Smith joined the Army as an officer during the Vietnam WAr. Later, he was the director of the Washington State Pathology Laboratory, then came back to Minnesota to earn a PhD in microbiology. He often helped colleagues in their professional veterinary practices, mainly tending to dogs. Smith is survived by his wife, Myrna; and their English Springer Spaniel, Ava; several relatives; and many, many friends.
