On April 20, students and donors gathered to celebrate the 77 scholarships, totaling roughly $500,000, that were awarded to 119 University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine students. These numbers exceed those of last year's Scholarship Reception, where 56 scholarships were awarded to 80 students.
Students had the opportunity to meet the donors of their scholarships and thank them for their continued support. This included the inaugural Dr. Janet Veit Scholarship, which was granted to second year veterinary student Janna Erickson. "I'm grateful to be the first awardee of the scholarship," Erickson says, "and that it will continue to support students from North Dakota or the La Crosse/La Crescent area for years to come. It is inspiring to see alumni and friends come together to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Veit."
