The University of Minnesota Academies for Excellence has announced Dr. Chris Stauthammer as a 2021 inductee of the Academy for Excellence in Clinical Practice. 

The Academies for Excellence recognizes outstanding faculty in the areas of scientific research, educational scholarship, clinical practice, and team science. 

Stauthammer is an associate professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and specializes in cardiology. He has received several teaching, service, and academic awards, including the Zoetis Distinguished Teaching Award.

Inductees of the Academy for Excellence in Clinical Practice have demonstrated their ability to deliver the highest level of clinical care, and/or developed and implemented an important innovation for clinical care delivery with proven efficacy using appropriate metrics as further defined by their college or school. All members of the Academy also have demonstrated the highest level of ethics and professionalism during their career. 

Stauthammer's lifetime membership in the Academy comes with a one-time award of $10,000 that he can use toward his salary or to support his departmental research and other activities. He is one of three University faculty members who received the 2021 award.
